19' Elco Fantail Hybrid-Electric Launch

For extended cruising or recharging the battery bank in remote areas, Elco offers a simple, quiet solution - a hybrid electric boat motor system.

The hybrid generator set fits nicely underneath the existing seating area in the stern of the electric launch. Since the launch is equipped with a 120 VAC charging system, the generator set is configured for 120 VAC and provides power to the existing onboard charging system thus eliminating the need for any change to the standard boat motor wiring arrangement. This is particularly attractive if you wish to add the generator set to an existing launch. The fully enclosed generator set features a sound proof enclosure (not pictured). A 15 gallon fuel tank is included mounted under the aft deck of the launch.

Elco's hybrid electric boat motor arrangement is also available to boat builders, dealers, and private owners. They can be specified for new hulls or retrofitted in most displacement type boats such as launches, skiffs, sailboats, classic boats or other displacement hulls up to 36 ft. in length.

The hybrid electric launch pictured here is a 19-ft. Elco Fantail Electric Launch in a picnic finish. The boat features the standard 3 HP, 36 VDC Elco drive system and a 4 Kw, 120 VAC engine generator set. With a discharged battery bank, the generator set is able to charge the batteries and produce enough additional power to allow a 3/4 throttle (cruise speed) to get you safely back to port. Based on 0.2 gph fuel consumption and a 15 gallon fuel tank, up to 75 hours of operation can be expected on a full tank of fuel!
